In May, 2002, Hill Country Art Gallery was organized and recognized by the State of Arkansas as a Non-
Profit Corporation and by November, 2004, was accepted by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501c3 Non-Profit Tax-Exempt Charitable Organization.   With this status,, the gallery may accept tax-deductible donations from private and public sources along with grants from organizations and businesses.

All activities of the organization are conducted by its members and auxiliary volunteer members who are interested in promoting the arts in the North Central region of Arkansas and Southern Missouri.   The overall mission of the Hill Country Gallery is to:

  • Foster and develop an understanding and appreciation of the fine arts and quality crafts in the cultural life of, the community.

  • To arrange for competent instruction in the arts of painting, graphics, collage, and related arts to the members and general public. This activity represents 25% of the organization's time. Qualified instructors, who are members of the Gallery, hold classes in watercolor, oils, pastels and drawing, on a scheduled basis.

  • To cooperate with other groups or individuals having similar ideas and to hold exhibitions open to the public.  Members participate and hold exhibits free of charge to the public. Free seminars and impromptu introductions to drawing and painting by member volunteers are offered to the public through advertisement in the Community Calendar of the newspaper.

  • To promote programs for the improvement of the art work of talented youth and to help provide (future) scholarships for this purpose. The promotion of programs for the improvement of the art work of talented youth represents 10% of the organization's time. A future planned activity is to provide scholarships for talented youth. It is anticipated that the scholarship activity will commence within the next 5 years as the assets of the Gallery grow.

Hill Country Art Gallery, Inc. encourages and accepts donations to be applied towards Endowment Funds to maintain a local Museum of Art and member-operated Gift Shop to support the gallery with the goal to purchase a permanent site or facility at some future date.
